Intake

The intake process in Obran Health ensures incoming patient referrals are efficiently managed, allowing for a smooth transition into the care system.

1. Reviewing and Assessing Referrals

  • Referrals from Connected Sources: Patient referrals come into Obran Health from various connected referral sources, such as Allscripts.

  • Access the Referral List: When you log in, you'll see a list of these incoming patient referrals. Each referral shows key patient details and its current status (e.g., eligibility needs checking, awaiting response, ready for assignment).

The Referral List
  • AI-Powered Recommendations: Obran Health uses AI to automatically review referrals and suggest next steps. These smart suggestions help speed up the process.

  • Fine-tune AI Behavior: You can provide specific instructions to the AI to influence its recommendations. Use the form on the intake page to enter these instructions.

Fine-tuning AI Behavior
  • Making Your Own Decisions: If you need to adjust the AI's suggestion or make a different decision, you can easily override it.

2. Checking Patient Eligibility

  • Automatic Insurance Verification: The app securely logs into the patient's insurance portal to check their insurance status.

  • Eligibility Criteria: The system checks if:

    • The home health agency accepts the patient's insurance

    • The insurance is valid and active

    • The patient is eligible for the required treatment under their insurance plan.

  • AI Recommendations: If the patient's insurance is not accepted, invalid, or doesn't cover the necessary treatment, the AI will recommend not admitting the patient.

  • Manual Verification (if needed): If there are any uncertainties or complexities regarding the patient's insurance or eligibility, the referral will be flagged for manual review. You can then update the patient's eligibility status directly in the app.

  • Updated AI Review: After any manual updates, you can re-run the AI decision process to get an updated recommendation.

3. Patient Admission

  • Accepting Referrals: Once a referral is deemed eligible and ready for admission, you can accept the referral within the app.

  • Creating Kinder Records: Upon acceptance, the app can automatically create a new patient record in Kinder, populating it with relevant referral data (this feature may be under development). [Image: Screenshot of the "Update Record" section]

  • Assigning to Care Team: After the patient record is created, you can assign the patient to the appropriate care team within the Health App.

Key Points:

  • The intake process is primarily designed for desktop use due to its widescreen format.

  • The AI decision support feature significantly expedites the referral review process.

  • Manual overrides and updates ensure flexibility and accuracy in handling complex cases.

  • Integration with Kinder streamlines patient data management and care coordination.
