Form Validation Enhancements

Added granular-level validation for clinician submissions, allowing specific fields (e.g., "time in" or "ethnicity") to be approved or denied independently. Introduced error state handling and improved data-saving processes for form submissions.

Form Builder Tool for Internal Use

Created a dynamic form builder tool to simplify form schema updates. Supports adding fields, automating validations, and syncing new fields with corresponding data tables (e.g., patient tracking). Enables the product team to easily modify form and improve workflows.

Patient Intake & Episode Management

Implemented CRUD functionality for episodes and tasks tied to patient intake. Automated episode creation with pre-defined task setups for clinicians. Added patient search functionality for streamlined navigation

Patient Intake Flow Enhancements

Enhances to Intake Screen
  • Updated the patient intake flow to a more intuitive three-column layout with a static sidebar, allowing clinicians to seamlessly navigate between patient records while maintaining context.

  • Added status indicators (dots) to represent patient eligibility and decision status during the intake process, improving visibility and ease of use for intake staff.

  • Improved filtering options to quickly sort patients by their intake status (e.g., eligibility check, decision made, pending), simplifying navigation for intake teams.

Messaging Enhancements

@mentions and emoji reactions for messages
  • Implemented real-time reactions and @mentions in patient channels, improving communication between team members.

  • Messages now support real-time updates, allowing instant collaboration within patient care teams.

  • Added emoji reactions to messages to encourage quick, informal feedback on team discussions.

  • Integrated @mention functionality with push notifications, ensuring that team members receive immediate alerts when tagged in critical conversations.

Prototyping for Scheduling Enhancements

  • Introduced three scheduling strategies for clinicians and admins:

    1. Admin-Pushed Scheduling: Admins can schedule visits for clinicians based on clinician availability and patient needs.

    2. Clinician-Claimed Scheduling: Clinicians can claim unscheduled patients and add visits to their own calendar based on their availability.

    3. Route Optimization: Clinicians can optimize their daily routes for scheduled visits, factoring in proximity to patients and travel time.

  • Added logic to prevent admins from assigning patients too far from a clinician’s home, based on geographic distance and region.

  • Enabled clinicians to manually claim patients for both start-of-care visits and routine follow-up appointments, offering more flexibility and control over their schedules.

Start of Care Form Progress

  • 21 out of 23 start of care forms are now complete 👍, reducing time spent on documentation.

  • Added functionality for clinicians to input details using checkboxes.

  • Initiated work on robotic process automation (RPA) integration for automatic form completion in Kinzer.

Here’s a quick rundown of the latest updates from our Home Health App demo, focused on improving clinician workflows and administrative efficiency.

Patient Intake Flow Redesign

We have made updates to the patient intake experience. We’ve taken a major step toward improving usability by aligning the intake page with the app’s three-column layout, a structure familiar across the platform. This means the intake process is now smoother and more intuitive, with easier access to patient records and more streamlined navigation.

We also ensured that context stays preserved when clinicians switch between patients or tasks. The sidebar is now static, so clinicians can maintain their workflow without losing any critical information. It's a simple but powerful change that ensures efficiency, especially when juggling multiple patient files throughout the day.

Start of Care Forms Nearing Completion

Out of 23 forms clinicians use for documenting patient visits, 21 are now fully functional and integrated into the system. This is a huge milestone, considering these forms are the backbone of patient documentation and compliance.

A major focus of this work was improving how clinicians interact with these forms. We added small but meaningful updates, such as an enhanced checkbox feature, which allows clinicians to enter additional information alongside selections. This minimizes the need for double data entry and helps reduce errors.

We laid the groundwork this week for integrating these forms with robotic process automation (RPA). Soon, clinicians won’t just fill out forms in our app — the app will automatically populate the forms in Kinser, saving hours of time and eliminating repetitive data entry.

Enhancing Clinician Scheduling

Clinicians are often stretched thin, and scheduling the right visits at the right times can be a logistical nightmare. We continued work on the scheduling system that allows clinicians to better visualize their day and schedule visits more efficiently. The goal is to build out features that optimize route planning and account for patient preferences, making it easier for clinicians to deliver care without unnecessary travel or downtime.

This feature will eventually tie into a more robust admin view, where multiple clinicians’ schedules can be seen at once, allowing administrators to manage the team’s availability more effectively.

Notifications

We know that managing communications channels is a pain without some form of push notifications to the various devices clinicians and admins will be using throughout the day. We are working on adding preferences settings to allow users to manage their notifications.

Team-wide Communications Prototype

In conversation with the leads team we heard that the ability to have multiple channels of communication with different stakeholders (outside of the core patient channels) is an essential feature. We are currently using slack as the primary communications tool. We are aiming to cover the critical path features of slack within the product (@mentions, notifications, named channels).

Patient Visit Scheduling and Route Optimization

Introduced by Charles Duong

Clinicians need to efficiently schedule patient visits by setting preferred time windows for each appointment. The system generates an optimal route based on patient preferences, creating a streamlined schedule for daily visits. We have heard that at least one clinicians is paying for third party software to do this task.

Key Functionality:

  • Patients are listed with preferred visit times, allowing clinicians to adjust scheduling based on patient availability.

  • The route optimization feature organizes appointments for the most efficient travel between patient locations.

  • Clinicians can modify schedules easily by adjusting patient time preferences, with real-time updates to the route.

  • This feature supports batch scheduling, allowing clinicians to plan for an entire week in advance.

Admin View for Scheduling Multiple Clinicians

Introduced by Charles Duong

A prototype for an admin view was proposed, allowing administrators to see multiple clinicians’ schedules at once and assign patients to clinicians by dragging and dropping.

Key Functionality:

  • Administrators can manage clinician schedules more easily by viewing all clinicians’ timelines.

  • Patients can be assigned to clinicians through a visual interface, streamlining the scheduling process.
