Roadmap

This page shares our public roadmap and the structured process the team follows during product development, detailing each phase from initial research to the final launch.

This is a standing list of our current features and where they sit in our overall development cycle.

Our Development Phases

1

🔍 Researching

We work to understand the activities we're seeking to support with our product development. We do interviews and calls with the people doing the work, getting videos of their daily tasks.

2

📃 Prototyping

We begin building prototypes that demonstrate our proposed approach, usually in the form of a functional system that demonstrates how it can be used and what the final outcome might look like.

3

👍 Validating

We go back to the workers who would use our tool and demonstrate what we have done. Together we work to refine it, surface any unmet requirements, and revise our understandings as needed. If there are more things we go back to development, if there are not we move to pilot deployment.

4

🧪 Testing

We try the solution on a small number of real world cases, without using it in a live production environment. We gather feedback about how it performs on real data. If changes are needed, we go back to prototyping and validation, otherwise we move to pilot deployment.

5

🛩️ Piloting

We operate our solution in parallel with the existing workflow. The goal is to benchmark our solution to the existing process looking for errors etc. during this phase we also ask for help to develop training and onboarding guides from the team. The idea here is that they should own the solution. After we are all satisfied that it works well enough we will move to full deployment.

6

🚀 Launching

We replace the existing system in stages (ie 10%, then 40%, then the rest) when possible. We try to avoid wholesale switching when possible.
